Roadside Fines - Can You Afford These Increases?

Companies are set to face large fine increases from 16th August 2013. On the spot fines, graduated fixed penalties, motoring offences and financial deposits are all to be increased, with some increasing by as much as 66.7%.

For example, Fines of £30, £60 and £120 will all be increased by 66.7% making the new fines £50, £100 and £200 respectively. A fine of £200 will increase by 50% making the new fine £300. These are large increases in the current fines and is something that every driver needs to be made aware of.

VOSA Chief Executive Alastair Peoples said, "These new penalty levels are intended to ensure penalties reflect the seriousness of the offence and are consistent with those in other areas of offending. I know the majority of operators and drivers work within the law, but those that don’t need to know there are increased financial consequences and they should reconsider if it’s worth the risk.”
