Van Drivers and the Driver CPC
Since September 2009, newly licensed drivers of light vehicles over 3.5 gross weight (e.g. light goods vehicles with goods carrying trailers attached as described above) have been required to obtain a driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), without which it would be illegal for them to drive such vehicles. Existing drivers of vans over 3.5t gvw have until 2014 in which to undertake the 35 hours or Periodic Training to obtain their CPC, after which date they will no longer be permitted to driver over-3.5t gvw vans without the Certificate. Below the 3.5t gvw weight threshold this is no requirement for the driver CPC.Story By: Derek Broomfield Web Link: www.novadata.co.uk Email Link: enquiries@novadata.co.uk
